Observations:
May 2015 – Adam has spent the past five seasons being transferred between the AHL and NHL. This past yearhe was traded from the Sabres’ organization to the Jackets and he accumulated 22 points in 45 games with the Falcons. He played three games in Columbus, but failed to register a point. He’s an RFA this summer and it’ll be interesting to see if CBJ extends a contract offer to him, especially with the young talent coming up in their system. He may have to settle for more AHL time in the future. – Chris Bagwell
December 2014- Luke Adam's tenure in the Buffalo Sabres Organization is now over as he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets for forward Jerry D'Amigo. Adam's footspeed leaves a lot to be desired and seemed to be an impediment for him when given the chance at the NHL level. With the Sabres not viewing him as part of the future it was a classy move trading him to another organization to give him chance to impress a new regime and perhaps claw his way back to the NHL. He has started off on the right foot scoring two points in his first two games for the Springfield Falcons and if you add those points to the 20 points he already racked up in Rochester it makes him the second leading scorer on the team. He has always done well at the AHL level so he will continue to get looks from different organizations but if he wants to take that next step he's going to need to start proving people wrong that he can produce when given the right role. August 2014- The Buffalo Sabres have locked up their AHL affiliates top scorer from last season, Luke Adam, to a one-year, two-way deal. Adam, who was a restricted free agent will stay with the organization that drafted him for another season and help provide some valuable depth to a team that can use all the help they can get. They did go out and make many moves to help improve the veteren leadership to mesh with what most view as the top prospect system in the NHL and even though Adam just turned 24 he still has another chance to prove that he belongs in Buffalo. November 2013- Luke Adam was sitting at a crossroad unsure whether he would ever get another chance. Lucky for him the Regier reign is over in Buffalo and one of the first moves of the new regime under Ted Nolan and Pat Lafontaine was recalling their AHL leading scorer. Adam is currently tied for the lead in goals in the AHL and will look to bring some skill and edge to the Sabres bottom six. It's doubtful Adam will help change the fortunes for this year but at least he will help them ice a more competitive roster. There's been greater days in Buffalo. Travis Watson
November 2013- With the little to no help the Sabres seem to be getting from their bottom six forwards its no wonder they haven't called up their AHL affiliates leading scorer Luke Adam. Adam has shown some success already at the NHL level scoring ten goals and 20 points in 52 games played just two seasons ago but despite that limited success the Sabres haven't rewarded Adam with another chance as he only played in four games last season and zero to start this year. It wouldn't hurt to give the Americans leading scorer a chance to see if he can infuse some offence and energy into a team that seems to be losing its way. The least it would do is show the Sabres fan base that management is making an effort to stay competitive. Travis Watson
July 2013- Luke Adam re-signed to a one-year, two-way contract on July 23rd that will pay him $725,000. Travis Watson
December, 2012 – Adam has 18 points in his last 43 AHL games and nine points in his last 42 NHL games. This, after kicking off 2011-12 with 11 points in 10 NHL contests. He is a serviceable power forward who is starting to look more like a third-liner similar to Taylor Pyatt, rather than a top-line power forward. Either way, the road to high production will be much longer than we thought one year ago. – Dobber
February 2012 – Adam really didn’t have a tremendous upside until posting 90 points in his final junior year in the “Q” with Cape Breton. He then followed with an impressive season with Portland in the AHL to earn Rookie of the Year honors in 2010-11. The Sabres gave him a full-time job out of training camp, but was recently demoted to Rochester. Although a poor skater, has great net presence and ability to work the corners and succeed with a decent shot. Upside to a possible regular second liner in NHL.
Fantasy Outlook: C-
Adam has consistently produced in the AHL, but has struggled to translate that success to the NHL. There is still a chance he could solidify himself a spot in the big league, but in New York, it may prove difficult.
