Observations:
February 2015 – After struggling mightily early in the season, Broll was reassigned to the ECHL and then dealt out of town. In Brolls defense he went from having a regular roll as a top 9 winger to fighting to dress amongst an influx of marginal talent and junior entries. In the Lightning system he will try to resurrect his career as they are shy on forwards of his type. The NHL is now a much longer road and the outlook is grim until we see growth from the 22 year old. Jason Banks
December 2013 – Broll is currently on a hot streak and benefiting from the absence of several forwards in the AHL. In a small four game stretch, he potted five points, and in his last 10 games has 18 shots on goal. Many defenders find it a struggle to contain him when he wants to go anywhere on the ice be it the corners or the front of the net. His skating needs a bit of work, as if he can do what he does in better stride, he could become a forceful power forward. Broll already found himself in the Leaf lineup this season debuting with a fight and then an assist in the following game. Jason Banks
October 2013 – The big winger will not ‘wow’ you with talent, and won’t make major impacts on score sheets in the NHL. He is a bottom six forward that will add character and sandpaper to any lineup he is in. In his inaugural season as a full pro, Broll had an excellent training camp as one of the final cuts and has carried it over to a weekend set of games in the AHL where he assisted on a pair of tallies. His largest value is his ability to dig and take bodies while opening up space for his skilled teammates which contributes to his junior tag ‘Brolldozer’. His size and ‘truculence’ attracted Burke to him, while his intelligence and hockey sense makes him a reliable option for coaches looking down the bench for a player to make an impact in a pinch. Jason Banks
Fantasy Outlook: D-
In his prime he should be a serviceable bottom six player that will contribute below average production, but service ‘roto’ leagues with a decent +/- rating while accumulating hits and spurts of PIM.
