Observations:
November 2014 – Seven games into his NHL career and Klingberg has been a real revelation for Dallas. The rookie is riding a four-game point streak, 2 goals and 4 assists, and has ascended to the role of lone D on the first power play unit. His play in all aspects has been extraordinary and well beyond his years. His poise and hockey sense are off the charts. Aside from his very first game where he saw 18:32 of ice time, Klingberg is seeing 23 minutes+ every game. In his first game on the top power play unit, against L.A., he skated 6:39 with the man advantage, including a sweet pass to setup a Jamie Benn power play goal. Rex Doty
November 2014 – John Klingberg has been recalled from the Texas Stars. Klingberg has been lights out to start the season picking up four goals and eight assists in 10 games for Dallas’ AHL club. He brings plenty of offensive accumen to the Stars, a much coveted righthand shot and a good first pass to exit his own zone, something Dallas has struggled with. Klingberg could see his first NHL action on November 11th when the Stars travel to Arizona to take on the Coyotes. Rex Doty
September 2014 – As the Stars wittle down their preseason roster Klingberg has been re-assigned to the Texas Stars. Klingberg will entering his first full season of pro hockey in North America. He did notch an assist in three games with Texas at the end of 2013-14 but was inactive during the Stars playoff run. Klingberg should be a major player on D as the Stars look to repeat as Calder Cup Champions. Rex Doty
September 2014 – Klingberg has made it through the second round of cuts during Stars training camp. He finds himself in the hunt for a spot with the big team in the midst of a hotly contested prospect battle. So far Klingberg has making a case for being on D in Big D come opening night. Rex Doty
September 2014 – From Stars beat writer Mike Heika to the blog Defending Big D talk of the possibility for Klingberg to stick in Dallas after camp breaks is gaining steam. The Stars for all intents and purposes have their top six blueliners set with the competition being for the seventh spot, or eighth should they decide to keep that many. Klingberg figures to be in that mix following his strong campaign last season with Frolunda where he finished with 28 points(good for 5th among Defensemen in the SHL) in 50 games. – Rex Doty
June 2014 – Klingberg is a smooth-skating rearguard who has improved at both ends of the ice over the last couple of years, arguably becoming one of the fastest movers up the Dallas depth chart among all Stars prospects. Some consider him NHL ready right now and he certainly didn’t look out of place in three games with Texas to end the season. He was an alternate captain for Frolunda prior to crossing the pond. – Dobber
Posseses poise and hockey sense well beyond that of most veteran players. His play at the NHL level thus far has been exemplary.
