Observations:

October 2014 – Kunyk didn’t have a particular noteworthy training camp, though he didn’t have a bad one either. He’ll start the season in Syracuse, likely centering one of the top two lines. Randall Buschmann

April 2014 -Kunyk is a highly competitive two-way forward who skates very well that signed with Tampa Bay last month. He finished his senior year playing college hockey for University of Alaska and leading the team in scoring with 22 goals, 21 assists and 43 points. Those totals were each career highs in those particular categories and were tops in the WCHA. With Kunyk breaking out offensively and being the best player on the ice most nights, he gained the attention of many NHL teams before deciding to sign with Tampa Bay. He was the WCHA Player of the Year, First Team All-Star and Hobey Baker nominee. Kunyk spent the last several weeks of the season skating with Tampa Bay and though he only skated in one game, the experience should prove valuable for his pro career long-term. Randall Buschmann

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Kunyk enters an organization rich in terms of depth at the forward position, so earning a full-time spot may prove to be quite the challenge. Long-term, the jury is out on if his offense crosses over to the big leagues. There’s potential here though and Tampa Bay is becoming one of the better teams at developing young forwards. His value will likely be in deeper leagues which use faceoffs, hits and blocked shots as categories.
