Observations:

July 2013 – The big Missouri native came out of the NCAA from Ohio State where he proved to be very reliable and steady. Heeter participated in the Chicago Blackhawks 2011 prospect camp and was looked at by several teams despite going undrafted. He had a decent showing in his rookie season of pro playing in both the ECHL and AHL and in the latter, he compiled a .908 SV% on a marginal Adirondack team. He is currently holding down the spot of Phiily’s backup to Steve Mason in the off-season until they find someone more tangible but he should be watched as he might be utilized as a third string option. He needs to spend several more seasons in the AHL to fully round himself out and work on adding more mass to his frame as he offers great space to shooters from his knee pads upwards. He is pretty strong technically, but has moments where he reminds you of the scramble style of Rick Tabaracci. It should also be noted that Paul Holmgren used his powers to bring Heeter as the third goalie in last year’s World Cup but it was more to gain experience. Keep an eye out for this possible ‘diamond in the rough’ especially with the Flyers carousel in net.

Fantasy Outlook: D+

Still very raw and yet to show the talents he possesses. Better analysis of his path will come as he gets more pro experience.
