Shoots: L |
Height: 6-1 |
Weight: 204 |
Born: 1988-05-18 |
Hometown: Riga, Latvia |
Drafted: 2006 by Ottawa Senators, 91st Overall |
Observations:
July 2012 – Daugavins has likely seen the last of the AHL for a long while, thus on the cusp of being a ‘Graduate’. He is a solid bottom six, depth player that is very valuable on the ice. He is known as a defensive puck player, but he is excellent at moving through the neutral zone and has a heavy shot. He is also good in the corners as he doesn’t get bumped off pick easily. Look for him to find a home as a regular on the Ottawa penalty kill and providing couple goals per year from it. He just received a fresh one way contract and has shown progression in his game every season through development in the OHL and AHL.
Fantasy Outlook: B-
His play translates to a regular third line player, but production will not be very fantasy worthy unless injuries push him forward.
Footage: Fun highlight of him scoring an epic shootout goal vs. Robert Mayer of the Hamilton Bulldogs.
