Observations:

January 2015 – After several years of battling severe concussion-like syndrome, Jarrod Maidens has decided to focus on education, leaving his hockey dreams behind. Brendan Ross

June 2014 – Jarrod Maidens was not signed by the Ottawa Senators and he will re-enter the 2014 NHL Draft as a result. Maidens hasn’t competed since experiencing a severe concussion  in 2011-12. Brendan Ross

May 2014 – Jarrod Maidens remains unsigned by the Ottawa Senators and will most likely re-enter the draft, where he most likely will not be drafted.  Maidens’ skill was never in question, but his season-ending concussion in 2012 turned out to be worse than anticipated.  The Senators took a risk by drafting him, and unfortunately for both parties it doesn’t look like he will see time playing for the organization in any capacity. Nathan Kanter

March 2014 – Concussions continue to be the story for the young career of Naigara Falls-native. Maidens missed the entire 2012-2013 season with a concussion and has yet to play in 2013-2014.  Although it was once thought Maidens may never play again, he has made sufficient steps in making a return to hockey. Nathan Martin

June, 2012 – Best known for his championship winning goal in game seven of the 2011 OHL Finals, Jarrod Maidens is a centerman with good skating mechanics and plays a high character game. Struggling to stay healthy in his draft year, Maidens was limited to just 28 games due to a suspected concussion. Entering the draft he is a wild card but his natural skill, impressive two-way game and size should make him a strong asset to any team pick mid-to-late second round.

Fantasy Outlook:   B-

Maidens owns modest offensive upside as he possesses strong puck skills that complement his intelligent decision making. Considering scouts had limited viewings of Maidens, there is a chance that he makes big development steps if he can overcome his latest injury.
