Observations:
June, 2012 – Once upon a time, Nick Palmieri was considered ready for full-time NHL duty after putting up 17 points in 43 games for New Jersey in 2010-11. In less than a year he went from having high expectations to falling out of the Devils’ plans and subsequently traded to the Minnesota Wild. It appears that Palmieri was brought to the NHL too quickly and would be well served to get additional development time in the AHL. As with most power forwards, he is unlikely to post good numbers in the NHL for several years. In the meantime, he could serve as a decent depth player in the NHL while having potential in the hits and PIM categories as he learns to use his body more consistently.
Fantasy Outlook: D+
Palmieri has modest upside but as a power forward will need several years before becoming fantasy relevant.
