Marcel Mueller, LW |
||
Shoots: L |
Height: 6’3 |
Weight: 232 |
Born: 1988-07-10 |
Hometown: Berlin, Germany |
Drafted: Free Agent Signed |
Observations:
October 2012 – He ended up signing with Modo of the Swedish Elite League and currently sits second in team scoring to Alexander Steen who is on a ‘Lockout Contract’. Mueller’s 12 points in 15 games shows strong value in a league that is notorious for being low scoring, much like the NHL. The current contract likely has no NHL out clause in the case that the lockout ends, but in the summer another team will notice him. Jason Banks
July 2012 – Have not seen official word, but it appears Leafs did not tender a qualifying offer making him a free agent. Rumors have been having him go back to play in Germany. He is on the very cusp of the NHL. Had a great showing in the World Cup for Germany leading the team in scoring and actually snagged two wins, despite having a lack of quality talent on the roster. At the age of 23, another NHL team should come knocking, looking for a possible third line power forward. Jason Banks
February 2012 – Marcel is turning into everything the Leafs wanted when they signed him. Big, strong, good skating, power winger. Took a while to get going last year, but has been playing strong and consistent this season. The most improved Marlie on the season is driving the net, playing with an edge and logging large minutes. Very deserving of any call up that comes his way in the near future. Marcel has logged 122 shots in 51 games this season, only twice has he been held shot-less (last time was Nov. 19). Very responsible in own zone and without the puck is a major plus.
Offense will be stunted in the NHL, able to fill third line role, likely 30-50 points.
