Shoots: R |
Height: 6-2 |
Weight: 193 |
Born: 1989-4-9 |
Hometown: Hamilton, Ont. |
Drafted: 2007 2nd Rd. 59th overall – Buffalo Sabres |
Observations:
November 2012 – The Hamilton, Ontario native was resigned by Buffalo to a two way contract as a depth option and is playing for Rochester again in the AHL. He has only been limited to only three un-exciting games this season. Schiestel is unlikely to earn valuable minutes in Rochester without injuries. His fantasy value as a result is very low, despite being drafted in the late second round on the NHL entry draft. Jason Banks
February 2012 – Schiestel is one of those players that again develop with confidence and more playing time. Consistently improved his numbers over his 4-year stint in the OHL with Mississauga & Niagara IceDogs. The same was evident in his second year of pro in the AHL with Portland last season, until a season-ending knee injury in late January 2011. Point production had doubled compared with previous year, though has yet to find the offensive touch this season in Rochester.
Fantasy Outlook: C-
Schiestel possesses a long skating stride and reach that isn’t afraid to join the rush, although isn’t a very serious offensive threat.
