October, 2012- Lapoint has informed the Reading Royals that he intends to retire from professional hockey. Rich Dillon
February, 2012 – LaPoint is a mobile defenseman with a little offensive skill. He is in his first year as a professional, following a solid career at the University of North Dakota, currently with the Reading Royals in the ECHL. He was released by Florida shortly before training camp.
His release from the Panthers is obviously not a good sign, but there still is a slight chance of an NHL career as a 6th or 7th defenseman. Not much fantasy value regardless.
