Observations:

February 2014 – Persson has never lived up to his first round draft selection back in 2006 and is one pick in hindsight that the Sabres wish they could have redo. Do to his stagnant development the Sabres did not extend a contract to Persson when his contract expired but he remains a restricted free agent. Currently playing in Sweden, Persson hasn’t improved mustering up a measly three points in 28 games for Brynas. Travis Watson

July 2012 – Persson’s North American career is effectively over. He has signed with Brynas, a top club team in the Swedish Elite League. He never showed any value towards his first round selection, as for the most part for Portland and Rochester he was invisible. Jason Banks

February 2012 – Persson is a Euro import from Sweden that the Sabres had high hopes for back on draft day in 2006. Played in various leagues in Sweden prior to coming over to North America for his first full season in 2009-10 with the Portland Pirates. Has been plagued with inconsistent play thus not developing into the player promised over 2+ seasons in the AHL with Pirates and Americans. Russ Bitely

Fantasy Outlook: D

Persson is a prospect running out of time as he has yet to display his smooth skating, offensive ability that made him a first-round draft pick in 2006.
