Observations:

November 2012 – Oklahoma City Barons defenseman Justin Schultz has been named the AHL Player of the Month (October) after posting 12 points in seven games leading all AHL skaters. Brendan Ross

October 2012 – Justin Schultz has been named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending October 21st, 2012. Schultz finished the week with three goals, an assist and a plus-6 rating in two games for the Oklahoma City Barons last week.  The first year AHLer currently sits second in defensemen scoring with six points in just four games. Brendan Ross

October, 2012 – Schultz is off to an excellent start to his professional career, albeit in Oklahoma City rather than Edmonton. Schultz has four goals and two assists in the Barons first four games. He leads the team in scoring, and is second on the squad with a plus- 6.

July, 2012 – Schultz decided to test the free agent market rather than sign with Anaheim. He chose the Edmonton Oilers where he will fit in nicely as one of seven or eight potential young superstars. A great fit. – Dobber

February, 2012 – One of the best offensive defensemen in the college ranks, Schultz has amassed an impressive 38 points in 28 games this season for the University of Wisconsin. The talented junior was a finalist for the Hobey Baker award after last season, and is one of the favorites for the honor this year.

Fantasy Outlook: A-

Is a lock to make the Oilers for the 2012-13 season and his success at the AHL level could translate to the NHL faster than expected.
