Observations:

June 2014 – Patterson spent most of the 2013-2014 season playing for the Denver Cutthroats of the CHL. He played in 41 games for the organization, finishing with a record of 23-10-7. His GAA finished at 2.77, but he boasted an impressive .922 SV% – the best in the league. The team lost to the Allen Americans in the CHL Finals. He also got to play in two games for the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. He won one of those games and finished both contests with a 3.00 GAA and .902 SV%. Patterson is a very athletic goalie, but his rebound control has been an issue. As an RFA this off-season, it’ll be interesting to see what the Avalanche decide with this kid’s future.   Chris Bagwell

February 2013- In his debut AHL appearance Kent Patterson was involved in a true goalie duel, the game going scoreless for a 65 full minutes. Patterson posted a 23 save shutout for the Lake Erie Monsters, only to fall to Abbotsford Heat in a shootout losing 1-0. He could figure into the Avalanche goalie picture in another season or two. Andrew Ward

May 2012 – Has recently signed a two year Entry Level contract with Colorado thus finishing NCAA career. Was named ‘Top Goaltender’ in the NCAA (West), despite sporting unexciting numbers. Finished with a 2.32 GAA and .907 save percentage.  Jason Banks

December, 2011 – After playing sparingly in his first two seasons as a Golden Gopher, University of Minnesota senior Kent Patterson is set to make a run at some school records in his final campaign. While most career wins and shutouts are likely out of reach, the lowest GAA in a season and career are attainable with a strong finish. With his NCAA eligibility played out, Patterson has no choice to report to Lake Eerie next year. Sharing an affiliation with Tamp Bay, the Monsters have little room in net- but Patterson knows better than most it’s all about waiting for the opportunity. Matthew Bugg

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Patterson has been successful at every level he has played, but the Avalanche’s logjam of other prospects will make opportunities difficult to come by. He can still make it, but will have to become a full-time AHL starter, and quickly.
